It was founded in by a Croatian missionary priest named Father Joseph Kundek, and the first church was a small log cabin. Built between and , the current church is a large solid sandstone block church built in the Romanesque Revival style and includes a feet high bell tower and steeple. The interior of the church is beautiful with its 14 columns, three Italian marble altars, statues, colorful mosaics, and much more.
